Driver door courtesy light problems

Have a little issue that started yesterday. My driver side courtesy light stayed on even though the door was fully shut. I had to double and maybe even triple check just to make sure it wasn't ajar, slammed it more than twice just in case, but no change.
I'm wondering what actually controls that light? Is it tied into the latch mechanism or a separate door switch? because there's no visible plunger switch like on older trucks, so I'm guessing it's internal or something?. Anyway I just figured I'd ask here.
Its a 2014 Toyota Silverado LT by the way.

I had something similar on my 2015 Silverado and it was really annoying. The courtesy light is usually controlled by an internal door latch switch, not a visible plunger like older models. If the latch sensor is dirty or worn, it can misread the door as open even when it's shut. Try cleaning the latch mechanism or checking for a fault in the wiring near the hinge.

That's a pretty common failure point. Sometimes it's a wire, but more often it's the sensor in the latch itself that goes bad.
I'd also try spraying some electrical contact cleaner in there, but if you need a new latch to fix it, they're not too bad to replace if you're comfortable with pulling the door panel.
