Door actuator problems

I broke two actuators in a month, first was from NAPA then the second one was from Rock Auto. I haven't fully confirmed but I think there's something binding the mode door, causing the actuators to over-extend and fail. Any ideas what might be sticking or blocking the defrost mode door, or similar experiences with Sierras? That or maybe I need better actuators since I shouldn't be replacing these every few days! Any recos? I got a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500.

I would also suspect a binding rather than just bad actuators!
For the defrost mode door, it's pretty common to find either a foreign object lodged in the HVAC ductwork or issues with the door itself.
The plastic doors can warp or crack over time, or the pivot points or hinges can get stiff.
Also sometimes the foam seal around the door can degrade and bunch up, causing it to stick.
Have you tried removing the actuator and manually moving the door to feel any resistance?
Or maybe get a visual using boroscope or a flashlight and mirror?

I had the same actuator problems with my Silverado. After messing with it for a long time, it ended up being just a little piece of a broken vent fin stuck in the door track. Another time, on a different car, the wires were too tight and kept pulling on the actuator, which made it break sooner because of the constant pressure on the gears inside. So, it's a good idea to make sure the door moves easily before installing another new one!

Check first for any debris or misalignment blocking the door before replacing parts again.
